Enesco. Trail of Painted Ponies Collection. Artist: Vickie Knepper-Adrian. This piece features beautiful details, including little fabric feathers hanging from the horse in different areas, like from its mane and tail, and shrubs sticking up from the ground, not to mention the paint work done on the horse's body. Another exquisite piece in this line that I personally adore, as I know many of you do as well.
From the card included with this figurine: "On a barren, windswept hill in eastern Montana there stands a tall obelisk inscribed with the names of the 268 men of the 7th Cavalry who lost their lives on June 26, 1876, in the Battle of Little Bighorn. Custer's Last Stand is remembered by most Americans as a shocking defeat for the United States 7th Cavalry. However, for Native Americans, it is remembered as the last chapter in the Native American struggle to preserve and defend their homeland and traditional way of life. There has been no equivalent memorial for Native Americans heroic sacrifice, until now. This gives 'War Cry' its power and poignancy."
Dimensions: 8.5" H x 8" W
About The Trail of Painted Ponies Collection, from the Enesco site: The Trail of Painted Ponies was born and bred in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It began as a public art project that invited artists to transform life-size horse sculptures into original works of art. The collection explores the inspirational power of the horse by giving artists the opportunity to paint and embellish elegantly designed horse sculptures, which are crafted into highly detailed, collectible figurines that honor the spirit and capture the power, beauty and magic of the original artworks.
